IUIU Hosts Inaugural Lecture on Pakistan–Uganda Relations and Regional Opportunities

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Kampala Campus, through its Centre for Capacity Development (CCD), hosted an inaugural public lecture on “Pakistan–Uganda Relations and Conflict & Opportunities in South Asia” on Monday, 27th October 2025, at A13 Hall. The event brought together staff, students, and guests to deepen understanding of the growing relations between Uganda and Pakistan and to explore prospects for academic and diplomatic cooperation.
The lecture was graced by H.E. Muhammad Hassan Wazir, the High Commissioner of Pakistan to Uganda, who delivered the keynote address. In his remarks, H.E. Wazir highlighted the historical and emerging areas of collaboration between the two countries, emphasizing education, trade, and capacity development as vital pillars for strengthening bilateral ties.

Dr. Jamil Serwanga, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, delivered welcome remarks and commended the High Commissioner for his continued engagement with the University. He reaffirmed IUIU’s commitment to fostering international partnerships that promote peace and development.
A lively Question and Answer session, moderated by Dr. Kawalya Isa, allowed students and staff to interact directly with the High Commissioner on issues of diplomacy, education, and economic cooperation. Dr. Taha Kasule, Director for Kampala Campus, gave the vote of thanks, appreciating the High Commissioner for honoring the University’s invitation. A token of appreciation was later presented to the guest by Dr. Jamil Serwanga on behalf of the University management.
