IUIU's Courtesy Calls to SMIIC and ICYF In Türkiye

The Rector of IUIU made an important courtesy call to the headquarters of SMIIC on the 12th of October 2023. While at SMIIC, the Rector held a meeting with the Secretary General, His Excellency, Mr İhsan Övüt. The Secretary-General thanked the Rector for a well-organised international conference on Halal Testing and Certification held in August 2022 at IUIU. He also looked forward to more collaboration to cement the relationship between IUIU and SMIIC.

The Rector expressed his appreciation to the Secretary-General and his team for the trust in IUIU. The Rector re-echoed the need for technical assistance in the establishment of the Halal Laboratory in Uganda. He stressed that the Islamic Development Bank is ready to assist the university in equipping the laboratory with modern testing equipment and thus, necessary to continue seeking advice for the Ugandan team to man the facility in accordance with established standards. The Rector signed a memorandum of undertaking between SMIIC.

In the same vain, the Rector used the opportunity to visit the headquarters of Islamic Cooperation for Youth (ICYF) and he was received by, Mr. Yunus Sönmez, The Director-General of ICYF Cabinet and Dr Yunus Çolak, ICYF MOIC Student Clubs Project Coordinator. Mr. Çolak highlighted the activities of the forum in social, economic, and cultural spheres. According to Mr. Yunus, the programmes are aimed at training and equipping the youth with skills in diplomatic relations, business start-ups, and other aspects of voluntary work. The forum organises short trainings where students are imparted with the skills.

The Rector welcomed the good work and undertook to involve IUIU students in the ICYF activities. He also called upon the Director-General to have a formal relationship between IUIU and ICYF.  The Rector was accompanied by Mr. Sewankambo and Mr. Saim Celik, Lecturer-IUIU.
