IUIU Rector Inspects Progress of New Engineering Faculty

The Rector of the Islamic University in Uganda, Professor Islamil Simbwa Gyagenda, led a delegation of senior university officials on a visit to the construction site of the new Faculty of Engineering on Tuesday, November 2, 2023, at the main Campus In Mbale.

The visit provided an opportunity to assess the ongoing construction and highlight its significance to the university and the community.

Joining the Rector on this important visit were the Vice-Rector in charge of Finance, Professor Abdul Kaziba Mpaata, the Vice-Rector in charge of Academics, Dr. Jamil Serwanga, the Deputy University Secretary, Mr. Kinsambwe Rashid, and several other dignitaries.

The Rector was updated on the progress of the construction of both the Faculty of Engineering and hostels. Currently, the excavation for the foundations and placement of columns are underway. The project's consultant reported that everything was moving in the right direction, and all stakeholders were adhering to the program aimed at completing the project within the agreed-upon 12-month timeframe Insha Allah. 

The consultant cited a challenge caused by rain, leading to some delays. However, he commended the university administration for their continuous support.

In his remarks, the Vice-Rector in charge of Finance, Professor Abdul Kazib Mpaata, urged the contractors to deliver high-quality and unique work and ensure timeliness to meet the project's objectives.

Dr. Jamil Serwanga, the Vice-Rector in charge of Academics, reiterated the need for quality and value for money, emphasizing that the project would serve as a benchmark at the national level.

Rector IUIU Professor Islamil Simbwa Gyagenda expressed his gratitude, thanking Allah for His blessings and commending the contractors for their work on the project. He assured the contractors and university administration present during the visit that the entire community was eagerly anticipating the completion of the Faculty of Engineering and looked forward to its inauguration by the next graduation ceremony, Insha Allah.

He also extended his appreciation to the government for approving the loan that enabled the Islamic University in Uganda to commence this vital construction project.
