  • 13th June, 2024 4:10pm

The newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Dr Walusimbi Yunus has announced a strategic plan aimed at driving academic excellence, enhancing student engagement, and fostering collaborative efforts both locally and internationally.

Dr. Walusimbi outlined a well-designed academic framework, detailing several key initiatives including developing new projects focused on community development and reflecting the university’s commitment to societal impact.

The faculty intends to provide comprehensive guidance to students, especially in selecting courses and specializations in fields such as Human Resources, Accounting, and Public Administration to equip students with a clear understanding of potential career paths and the skills employers require.

He added that the faculty plans to extend its outreach to high school students, offering early insights into the course offerings at IUIU. This proactive engagement is expected to attract prospective students and inform their educational choices.

Dr. Walusimbi emphasized the importance of fostering collaborations both internationally and locally through forging partnerships with institutions like the University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK). Locally, IUIU is actively collaborating with other regional universities on various teaching and research projects. These partnerships are designed to promote interdisciplinary initiatives, including entrepreneurship exhibitions that engage the wider community, sports, and research activities.

Dr. Walusimbi Highlighted the need for staff development and noted that IUIU is collaborating with a state in Nigeria, through the TAC program and encouraged other members of staff to enroll for Ph.D.s. at the faculty.

He added that the commitment to research excellence is evident through the establishment of research groups dedicated to writing research papers and proposals to secure funding.
