IUIU Participates in the Uganda Deep Tech Summit 2024

The Vice Rector in charge of academic affairs, Dr. Jamil Serwanga at IUIU has called on the youth to leverage available technologies to improve their lives and communities. He made these remarks during the closing ceremony of a three-day leadership training held at IUIU Main Campus in Mbale from 19th to 21st September 2024.
The training, organized in partnership with Makerere University and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed at nurturing and mentoring young people for transformative leadership, and governance, and contributing to sustainable social, economic, and political development.
Dr. Serwanga commended UNDP, Makerere University’s Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre (JLC), and the government of Uganda for their efforts in addressing critical developmental issues. He emphasized that the knowledge, skills, and transformative mindset gained during the training would empower the youth to help their communities overcome challenges.
He added that IUIU is committed to supporting youth development, and programs are in place to ensure the initiative becomes a reality. He urged the participants to capitalize on technological advancements to drive community and personal growth.
Dr. Nansozi Katalina Mwanga, Executive Director of the Julius Nyerere Leadership Centre, lauded UNDP for organizing the training and expressed gratitude to IUIU for hosting the event. She reaffirmed JLC’s dedication to inspiring young leaders capable of steering Africa toward progress.
She reminded the youth, that the future is in their hands and the training has equipped them with the tools needed to seize opportunities, continue learning, and develop additional skills necessary for growth.
