Nur Hassan Abdirahman urges other international students to join IUIU

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), through its Health Centre at the main campus in Mbale, contributed to the global fight against polio by immunizing approximately 2,050 children during the recent door-to-door polio vaccination campaign.
The campaign, which was conducted in two phases, ran from October 3rd to 7th, 2024, for the first round, and from November 7th to 10th, 2024, for the second round, Targeted children in 49 districts across the Busoga, Bugisu, Teso, Sebei, and Karamoja sub-regions.
According to the University medical officer Dr. Naziru Rashid, Uganda is targeting the administration of 8.7M children with the new Oral Polio Vaccines to children aged 0-5 years following the outbreak of Polio in Uganda in 2021. This is part of the global polio eradication Initiative Supported by the W.H.O., UNICEF, C.D.C, and Rotary International.
The IUIU Health Centre's participation in the campaign underscores the university's commitment to community service. The university continues to bridge the gap between academia and public health outreach.
