IUIU's Strategic MoUs and Partnerships

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) is committed to fostering global partnerships and collaborations that enhance academic excellence, research, and community development. Through a series of strategic Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with esteemed institutions and organizations, IUIU continues to strengthen its position as a leading educational institution in Africa.

Below are some of the key MoUs and partnerships that IUIU has entered into:

 

IUIU, and Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar University MoU Signing Ceremony

On 23rd November 2023, IUIU signed an MoU with Acibadem Mehmet Ali Aydinlar University at Kampala International University in a bid to promote internationalization, secure partnerships, build networks, and market the University.

HUAWEI TECHNOLOGIES CO. (U) LTD

The signing ceremony was attended by the Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, the Vice-Rector Academic Affairs, Dr. Jamil Serwanga, Academic Registrar, Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, Director Kampala Campus, Dr. Kasule Twaha, Director Quality Assurance, Dr. Amaal Kineene, ICT Manager, HOD-Computer Science, Mr. Kalinaki Kasim, Deans of Faculties, Public Relations Officer and many others.

According to the Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail S. Gyagenda, the Huawei based IUIU-ICT Academy will equip students with an understanding of cutting-edge technologies. �Through this partnership, we will ensure that ICT courses keep up with new trends, and use guaranteed teaching materials that are related to industry practices

IUIU TO SERVE AS OIC�s REGIONAL CENTER OF EXCELLENCE FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, AND INNOVATION (STI) IN AFRICA

The new OIC Secretary General, His Excellency Ambassador Hissein Brahim Taha has recently tasked COMSTECH (the Ministerial Standing Committee on Science and Technology) to prioritize Africa and work with OIC institutions like IUIU in building capacity in Science, Technology, and Innovation (STI). The aim is to transform the economies of the African OIC member states. COMSTECH has taken this charge seriously.

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and Sudan International University (SIU) Signs Memorandum of Understanding and Hosting Agreement, Paving the Way for Future Success

Marking a significant step forward in their shared vision, IUIU and SIU have entered into a strategic partnership by signing an MOU today 31st July 2024: the Rector Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, Dr. Kasozi. E. Sinani, Dr. Hatim Elamin, Ms. Zamzam Ahmed, and Mr. Mutyaba Abdallah represented IUIU. SIU was represented by the Vice President of SIU Prof. Ishraga Bashir and Mr. Kyangwe Dauda. Other members present at this ceremony from the International University in Africa were the Deputy VC Prof. Taha Abdeen Hamed and Dr. Tadjadine Bechir Niam.

This partnership will enable IUIU and SIU to leverage each other's strengths and expertise to collaborate on activities not limited to faculty, student, and staff exchange. This MoU marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both our institutions and the wider Islamic community by exploring new opportunities for growth and innovation. This is a significant milestone in the relationship between the 2 universities and we look forward to achieving great things together.

Kampala University

In our endeavours to strengthen research and inter-university collaborations, Kampala University has signed an MoU with IUIU, a marriage that will help to promote cooperation in capacity building, research and development, student and staff sponsorship. The relationship is also aimed to strengthen, promote and develop cooperation between the two parties and their respective stakeholders.

Launch of the IsDB-Funded ERP Technology Transfer Project Between IUIU and Lakeside University College Ghana.

On 2nd April 2024, the ERP Technology Transfer Project between Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and Lakeside University College Ghana (LUCG), was launched. This reverse linkage project under the south-south cooperation framework is financed by Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), with a grant of USD 54,000. The project involves the acquisition of IUIU’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and customizing it fully, to the business process automation needs of LUCG. The launch took place physically at LUCG in Ghana and was virtually attended by both IsDB and IUIU representatives from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Uganda, respectively. The IUIU ERP Team including; the ERP Manager, Mr. Sekalema Hamza, and Software Engineers, Mr Mpiima Moud and Mr Semakula Isa, attended the launch physically at LUCG in Ghana, where they are currently engaged in various project initiation activities.

Collaboration Between Research Centre for Islamic History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) and IUIU

The Rector of IUIU, His Excellency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda signed a memorandum of understanding with IRCICA on Wednesday, 11th October 2023. The broad areas of collaboration include Research and Publication, Seminars and Conferences as well as capacity building in training, short courses, and work attachment. Shortly before the signing, the Rector had a meeting with his host, His Excellency, Prof. Dr. Mahmud Erol Kilic, the Director General at the headquarters of IRCICA in İstanbul Türkiye.
