Universities teaching law in Uganda have been encouraged to strengthen collaborations and see each other as entities providing a service to the community rather than as a competitor to build capacity and achieve the objectives they want.

This was said by the Dean of the School of Law at Makerere University, Professor Christopher Mbazira in a public lecture organized by the faculty of law at the Islamic university in Uganda held at the Kampala campus on the 16th of September 2023.

Professor Mbazira encouraged the lecturers to utilize various methods of instruction like clinical methods, moot court methods, case reading, logical conceptualization, and others.

He emphasized the need to revamp legal education in Uganda to align the different kinds of generations like the millennial generation and the Z generation.

The Dean Faculty of Law IUIU Ms. Nagadya Hamidah cited that there is a need to review the current law curriculums to make them competence-based since the lower levels of learning are now using the competence-based curriculum.  She emphasized the need to centralize law curriculums in Uganda. She cited that learning law in the 21st century has to be productive and meaningful to a learner at each stage.

Professor Tindifa the head of the department of common law at iuiu also cited that the current generation needs to be taught with modern methods of teaching, Professor Bakibinga from Makerere University, and Mr. Masaba Simon Peter also emphasized the same.

The members also discussed the various challenges facing legal education in Uganda citing the rapid changes in the legal environment characterized by technological advancements like artificial intelligence
