IUIU Hosts Delegation from the University of Peace and Reconciliation

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) hosted guests from the University of Peace and Reconciliation Burundi on Wednesday 08th May 2024 at the main campus in Mbale. 

The guests were received by the university secretary Mr Sewankambo Hamza in the office of the Rector. He welcomed the guests giving a brief history of IUIU and prayed that the interaction and exchanging of ideas foster collaboration and learning opportunities for both institutions.

The head of the delegation, Dr. Ndikumana Sudi, the Rector of the University of Peace and Reconciliation in Bujumbura, expressed gratitude for the gracious reception extended by IUIU. He emphasized the importance of learning from institutions like IUIU and looked forward to potential collaborations in the future. Dr. Saudi commended the university's leadership and staff for their dedication to fostering education for the Muslim Ummah and the world at large.

The director of Research, publication, and innovations at IUIU Dr. Maimuna Nimulola briefed the guests on IUIU's research management practices, staff engagement, and publication efforts, focusing on the research agenda themes like Islam development, climate change, science and IT, community participation while also addressing the challenges faced by the institution in the areas of research.

Dr. Issa, the Deputy Director of the Directorate of Quality Assurance at IUIU, elaborated on the university's quality assurance mechanisms, highlighting the institution's commitment to maintaining high standards of education.

The Director Centre for Post Graduate Studies Dr. Matovu Musa provided insight into IUIU's postgraduate programs, assuring the guests of the availability of qualified staff and adequate facilities to support these programs. He also highlighted the potential of the university's Center for Graduate Professional Studies (CGPS) for producing high-quality students and research.

The guests had the opportunity to tour the campus visiting the School of Nursing, where they were received by the Principal, Ms. Sara Namutebi, and the Radio station at the Department of Mass Communication.
