OIC Assistant Secretary General For Science And Technology Visits IUIU, Arua Campus

The Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), Arua Campus hosted the OIC Assistant Secretary-General for Science and Technology Ambassador Askar Musinov on 29^th September 2023. The Ambassador was on duty to launch the $150,000 surgical medical camp in Yumbe. The Ambassador who doubles also as the Chairman of the University Council said that by visiting the Arua Campus, he now has a full picture of what IUIU is and he promised full support for the growth of the campus. 

The ambassador was accompanied by the OIC Director for Science and Technology Dr. Abdul Noor Sekiinde, in his speech Dr. Abdul Noor said he is happy to visit the Arua Campus and as the President of the IUIU Alumni Association, he feels challenged by the achievement of the alumni of West Nile who speared headed for the start of the campus in the region. He urged the alumni of West Nile to come up with an alumni that can be a chapter of the bigger alumni association through which the campus can be supported.

In his speech, the director of IUIU Arua Campus Dr. Aluonzi Burani welcomed the Ambassador to Arua Campus and said the campus was established in 2007 with an enrolment of 80 students in two faculties of Education and Management studies. The campus now runs programs in five (5) Faculties which has led to an increase in the enrolment to 832 coming from the 13 districts of West Nile, South Sudan, and DRC. The Director thanked the Rector for spearheading the start of Postgraduate programs on the campus and also for providing an enabling environment for training.
