Delegation from Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University Visits Islamic University in Uganda

Islamic university in Uganda hosted a delegation of academics from Tokat Gaziosmanpasa University (TOGU), Faculty of Engineering, under the Erasmus Programme, Led by Associate Professor Mustafa Eker, the delegation comprising five members engaged in discussions aimed at fostering academic collaboration between the two institutions.

The delegation was welcomed by the Rector of IUIU, Prof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, in his office accompanied by Dr. Umar Yahya, Senior Lecturer in Computer Science, Saim Celik CCD coordinator, Ms. Muniira Nakabuubi, and Muyaba Abdallah, Senior Executive Secretary to the Rector on the 16th April 2024 at IUIU Kampala Campus. 

Key topics of discussion included the needs of the Faculty of Engineering at IUIU, the sharing of knowledge and expertise between the two institutions, and the potential participation of IUIU at the Teknofest event in Turkey in collaboration with TOGU. Notably, the delegation toured the Motion Analysis Research Laboratory (MARL) at IUIU, where Dr. Umar Yahya showcased some of the achievements of the institution.

The visitors proceeded to the IUIU main campus on 17th April 2024, where they were received by Dr. Jamil Serwanga, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, and Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar, Academic Registrar, alongside other members of the staff. Dr. Serwanga extended a warm welcome to the guests, acknowledging the significance of their visit to IUIU.

Dr. Jamil stressed that the collaboration will be impactful on the quality of training offered by IUIU and the quality of students and that the university will put into action the matters discussed. 

During their tour of the main campus, particular attention was given to the new Faculty of Engineering, currently under construction, showcasing the university's commitment to enhancing its academic offerings and infrastructure.
