Memorial Lecture Honors the Late Nayiga Saudah at IUIU Females' Campus

Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Females' Campus, organized a solemn memorial lecture to commemorate Dr. Nayiga Saudah, her life and contributions to the faculty of law. Nayiga Saudah's untimely passing, attributed to a heart attack in February 2022, left a void in the academic community.

Dr. Nayiga Saudah had been a driving force behind the Faculty of Law's remarkable growth and success during her tenure, and her legacy continued to resonate throughout the institution.

The memorial lecture commenced with a touching gesture, as both staff and students came together to plant fruit trees as a Sadaqah in her memory. This symbolic act demonstrated the lasting impact she had on the hearts of those she touched during her lifetime.

Dr. Madinah Nabukeera, the Director of IUIU Females' Campus, shared heartfelt sentiments about Nayiga Saudah's exceptional abilities in conflict resolution, which greatly benefited students and staff alike. Dr. Madinah recalled, "She was remembered for her astute tactics in resolving conflicts among students and staff members."

Dr. Saudah's influence extended far beyond her colleagues; her students held her in high regard as a mentor and guide. Atwiine Sabrinah, the President of the Law Society and a fourth-year student at IUIU Females' Campus in Kabojja, expressed the profound impact Nayiga had on her and fellow students. "Madam Nayiga mentored us and provided us with the essential tools to become the best lawyers in the country," Sabrinah attested.

Dr. Madinah Nabukeera emphasized that this memorial lecture would become an annual tradition to commemorate fallen colleagues within the university. "We have decided that on the same date every year, we will remember our departed colleagues," Dr. Madinah confirmed. She further stated that this memorial lecture would be an integral part of the campus's activities, held in the first semester of each academic year at IUIU Females' Campus.

Dr. Saudah's legacy lives on through the annual memorial lecture, ensuring that her contributions to the Faculty of Law and her lasting impact on the academic community will be remembered and celebrated for generations to come.
