H.E Excellency Dr. Oussedik Fawzi Commends IUIU for its dedication to the advancement of international humanitarian law.

The President of the Islamic Forum of International Humanitarian Law (IFHL), His Excellency Dr. Oussedik Fawzi, paid a visit to the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) at the main campus Mbale on On Friday, January 12th, 2024. Welcomed by the Vice-Rector of Finance and Administration proff Abdul Kaziba Mpaata, the visit included crucial meetings with the Dean and faculty members from both the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Islamic Studies and Arabic Language.


Dr. Fawzi Oussedik commended IUIU for its steadfast dedication to the advancement of international humanitarian law and diplomacy. He particularly lauded the university's initiative in establishing a Diploma in International Humanitarian Law and Diplomacy program, set to be launched in August 2024. This program is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in the principles of international humanitarian law, empowering them to contribute to the creation of a peaceful and just global society.


The visit by Dr. Fawzi Oussedik underscored the IFHL's commitment to collaborating with educational institutions worldwide to deepen their understanding of international humanitarian law and its practical implications. Through its partnership with IUIU, the IFHL aims to play a role in the professional development of legal scholars and practitioners within the humanitarian law field.


The establishment of the diploma program at IUIU, supported by the IFHL, is a testament to the university's dedication to delivering high-quality education and nurturing the growth of future leaders in the humanitarian law sector.


The Dean of Law at Islamic University in Uganda, MS. Hamida Nagadya commended Dr Fawzi for visiting IUIU and for his continuous support to the institution. She highlighted that IUIU in Collaboration with IFHL is organizing the 5th  edition of the humanitarian law moot court competition which will be held in the first semester of the next academic year 2024/2025 in memory of the late Dr Abdul Mayanja.  

The vice-rector in charge of finance at IUIU Prof Abdul Kaziba Mpaata said the diploma program in International Humanitarian Law and Diplomacy at IUIU reflects the institution's commitment to academic excellence, showcasing its pivotal role in promoting global peace, justice, and coexistence.
The president concluded his visit with a comprehensive tour of the university campus.
