Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) celebrates Technical Aid Corp (TAC) Members

Islamic University in Uganda bid farewell to the esteemed Technical Aid Corp (TAC) members of staff On Thursday, March 14th, 2024 at the main campus in Mbale.

The Team of 18 professors and doctors from Nigeria diligently served in various faculties across all campuses Over the past two years, as part of a capacity-building initiative funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The event was graced by the presence of the Rector, represented by Vice Rector Dr. Jamil Serwanga, the Academic Registrar Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar, University Secretary Mr Sewankambo Hamza, TAC members, and other esteemed members of staff.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Sewankambo Hamza warmly welcomed the guests and commended the departing members for their unwavering commitment and invaluable services rendered during their tenure at the University.

Chairperson of the TAC members, Professor Salawu Rafiu Oyesola, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Almighty for guiding and protecting them since their arrival in Uganda in 2022. He further extended appreciation to the administration of IUIU, led by the Rector Assoc Prof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, for their hospitality throughout the two years.

Professor Salawu acknowledged the support received from Heads of Departments and Deans across various faculties. He highlighted their role in providing leadership and mentorship in diverse departments during their stay, stressing their mission to complement the efforts of existing staff.

Dr. Halima Wakabi Akbar echoed gratitude to the TAC members for their dedicated service to the university. She also recognized the invaluable support provided by the Nigerian High Commission in Uganda whenever needed.

Representing the Rector, Dr. Jamil Serwanga expressed appreciation for the TAC members' significant contributions to the development of IUIU during their tenure.

The Rector extended gratitude to both the governments of Uganda and the Federal Republic of Nigeria for facilitating capacity building within IUIU and Uganda at large.

In his closing remarks, the Rector urged lecturers at IUIU to maintain contact with the departing TAC members, fostering ongoing collaboration and future opportunities for growth and development.
