Rector commends IUIU Staff for nurturing the next generation of scholars and professionals.

The Rector of IUIU Assoc Prof Simbwa Gyadenda commended the dedication of the university's leadership, Deans of faculty, and staff in nurturing the next generation of scholars and professionals.

This was during the annual Rector's Iftar Dinner held on Friday 22 March 2024 at the main campus in Mbale. The event was hosted in the Rector's residence where the university community and distinguished guests broke their fast together and celebrated the blessings of Ramadan.

The event was graced by His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda, represented by Regional Assistant to the Mufti Sheikh Ahmad Wandega, and Mr. Wanade Kasim, the General Secretary of the Bugisu Muslim Supreme Council among other guests.

The university community was represented by the Vice-Rector in charge of Academics, Dr. Jamil Serwanga, and the Vice-Rector in Charge of Finance and Administration, Prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpaata, members of staff, and the wider community.

In his welcoming address, Rector Asocc Pof Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda extended warm greetings to all attendees and prayed for the acceptance of everyone's worship during Ramadan. He conveyed gratitude to the guests for joining in the Celebration of Iftar, emphasizing the significance of communal gatherings during this sacred month.

Prof Ismail highlighted the inauguration of the Halal Authentication Lab at the female campus, which will help IUIU tap into the over $2 billion industry making IUIU is a hub for science and technology innovation in Africa, following Its selection by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) upon completion.

The Rector pledged to strengthen partnerships and collaborations for mutual the benefit of the university and the broader community. He commended the efforts of the event organizers, led by the Academic Registrar and University Secretary, making it a success.

The Chief Guest Sheikh Ahmad Wandega, representing the Mufti of Uganda, expressed gratitude to the university for its unending support of the Supreme Council and its initiatives. He conveyed personal appreciation for IUIU's role in shaping the lives of young individuals, including several of his children who have benefited from the university's educational offerings.
