The academic registrar of the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar has cautioned female students in Mbale city about the rising vice of Lesbianism and homosexuality that is allegedly developing in schools and the country at large.

Dr Halima said this during the celebration of world International Women’s Day at the main campus in Mbale. This year, the event was organized under the theme “Digital innovation and technology for gender equality”.

Dr Halima who graced the ceremony as the chief Guest and the guest speaker urged the students to respect God who created them because he created a man and a woman for a reason. The ceremony took place at IUIU in Summayah Hall.

While addressing students, Dr Halima Wakabi Akbar called upon students to embrace technology to move with the trend of being in a position to compete in the completive world.

“We are in a world where the number of women is more compared to men therefore, let us embrace technology to enhance the development of our country without being left behind”, “As younger as you are, you should work tirelessly and be confident of yourselves for Excellency”. Dr Halima added.

The celebration brought together students from various secondary schools in Mbale City like Nakaloke Islamic, Bugisu Highe Mbale SS, and others who joined students of IUIU.
