Former IUIU Coordinator Receives An Award

Former coordinator of the Islamic University in Uganda Dr Sulait Daud Kabali received an award in recognition of his excellent service rendered as dean of students.

The award was handed to Dr Kabali by the vice Rector in charge of finance, Prof. Abdul Kaziba Mpata who represented the Rector during the Deans’ Forum event held at the Islamic University's main campus in Mbale.

The event was organized under the theme “Management of Students in the Digital Era” and lasted three days from Wednesday 15th of March up to Friday 17 March 2023.

Student leaders and deans from various universities in Uganda like St Lawrence University, Gulu University, Lira, Uganda Christian University, and Busitema University were in attendance.

Dr Kabali is one of the long-serving lecturers and staff of IUIU in the faculty of Islamic studies and the Arabic language. 

He joined IUIU in 1988 and served in different capacities in administration and academics as acting academics registrar, head of the department of the Arabic language, and chairman dawah liaison and community outreach committee a position he still holds up to date.

He was later appointed university coordinator a position he served in until he retired from administration in December 2022.

The retiring administrator pledged to continue serving the university in the areas of research and lecturing. Dr Kabali has been succeeded by Mr Siraj Mukhwana as the new University Coordinator and Dean of Students.
