IUIU Joins the World to Commemorate the World Press Day

Islamic University in Uganda Main Campus Mbale, Department of Mass Communication joined the world on the 3rd of May to Commemorate the 30th World Press Day, which moved under the theme ‘’ Shaping a future of Rights: Freedom of Expression as a Driver for all Other Human Rights’’.

The mass communication Department Of IUIU, enhanced the Commemoration in various aspects i.e. matching to express the solidarity of Journalists in the world, public Lecture to all Mass communication Students which was held at IUIU in the Management Shade where prominent Journalists who studied at IUIU shared their experience with Students in the Department.

While addressing the Mass Communication Students, the Vice Rector of  IUIU in charge, Finance and Administration Prof. Dr. Abdul Kaziba Mpata, who represented the Rector during the Event urged the mass communication students to treat information as a vital aspect of the world and cautioned them against bribery. 

‘’Take information as an important thing because without the information you can even die of poverty,  just because you lack information, as a journalist who went through IUIU never be bribed to trash stories that are of human interest, be journalists with a high level of integrity, it’s your role to inform and update the public,’’ Prof Mpata said.

Prof. Dr. Abdul also called upon the Students to be objective about the rooming vice of Homosexuality.
‘’If your mother and father joined and produced you, then why do you marry your fellow men or women, do want to end the generation, this is not human rights it’s a human wrong,’’ He said

Mr. Ssekanyo Issa, the Dean of Students Faculty of Arts and Social Science (FASS) commended the Mass communication department for training the best journalists who have served the Nation and the world at large.

Dr. Muyingo Rajab Idd, the Head of the Department of  Mass Communication at IUIU main Campus also added by applauding all lectures from the department and students for portraying and carrying the flag of journalists amidst the tough challenges journalist go through in the world.
